Game of Thrones in Bizkaia

Three locations are the sanctuary of the Game of Thrones followers:

  • San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
  • Zumaia
  • Barrika

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

One of the most iconic places for the Game of Thrones series’ fans is, undoubtedly, Dragonstone.
A place where the destiny of the seventh season is forged with the landing of the Mother of the Dragons in Westeros.
If you wish to relive that moment in which she says: “Shall we begin?” (The conquest), go beyond the huge stone doors and look out on the beautiful staircase of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

Tickets to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

We would like to remind you that you need to get in advance your tickets to visit San juan de Gaztelugatxe.

You can book them at: https://www.tiketa.eus/gaztelugatxe/?lang=en

Zumaia

We had already seen Dragonstone on some occasion in the series… However, Daenerys’ arrival to her land, to her stolen kingdom, was a special moment, worthy of a special place.

The choice of Zumaia is perfect. The scene is focused on the cliffs, in the unique orography of this beach.

Barrika y Gorliz

Davos and Tyrion travel to King’s Landing to meet Cersei: the goal of both is to avoid a disaster and engage the Queen of the Iron Throne to the fight against the White Walkers.

The landing of such a curious pair of anti-heroes happens right on the Barrika beach, with the Gorliz dock in the background!

Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve

The Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve is one of the must visit places in the area.

It is a magical place where you can enjoy landscapes in which the green of the valley slopes created by the Oka River contrasts with the wetlands, the estuary and the sea in the background…

Nature and ornithology passionate visitors will find here a true paradise because of its rich flora, fauna and the importance of the biodiversity that inhabits this place. These reasons made it worthy of the UNESCO consideration in 1984.

Come discover it!

Activities in Ea

In Ea, besides walking around the town and paying a visit to its port, there are other things to do.

Here are some videos to encourage you to enjoy this land with all the intensity it offers!

Nearby places that we recommend:

For surfers, we can only recommend you to go and enjoy the waves at the Laga Beach: one of the best beaches in Bizkaia to practice this sport. And it is also a beautiful place to walk, bathe… Do not miss the view from Cape Ogoño.

Leketio is a charming town, with a beautiful beach and great gastronomy.

The Sopelana beach is worth a visit, without hesitation, because of its dramatic rocks cutting the sea.

If you still have some spare time, go to Nacedero de Urederra and also to Bosque Pintado de Oma, by Agustín Ibarrola; a very curious place to see.
